We are extremely proud of all our students and everything they have accomplished over the years at Make Up First! Throughout our 15 years, we’ve been fortunate to teach incredible artists, host workshops for the industry’s best MUAs, and lectured at some of the country’s biggest trade shows. As we look back at some of our favorite memories, we would love to see some of your favorite photos and videos from your time here as well! Tag @makeupfirstschool on Instagram with your favorite photos/videos and let us know what those memories mean to you.
Summer is typically a time when new trends in makeup and fashion are on full display. While this summer presents new challenges for makeup enthusiasts, creative MUAs are finding ways to accentuate their looks while wearing a mask.
The Chicago Tribune recently interviewed Make Up First owner, Jill Glaser, for tips on keeping looks fresh and fun while staying safe.
All About Eyes
With the lower half of your face covered, it’s the perfect time to focus on your eyes. Go bold with bright summer colors and ”play up the eyes and the eyebrows,” Glaser said. The Viseart Editorial Brights palette has a wide range of vibrant colors to match whatever summer mood you want. It’s also worth investing in ATTN! Beauty’s Makeup Mixing Medium, which intensifies, combines, and revives shadows, loose pigments, and glitters.
Tinted Moisturizer > Foundation
Summer is hot, and with masks covering most of your face, sweating can really complicate a full face of makeup. Now is the perfect time to ditch heavy foundations and replace them with something better: tinted moisturizers with SPF. Jill recommends still covering your whole face, as masks are taken off in certain scenarios, but the more lightweight your makeup is, the better. Waterproof is a plus! We recommend Embryolisse’s BB Cream.
Finish With a Setting Spray
In the heat, and especially under a mask, some of your makeup may come off. You can help keep everything in place with setting sprays or powders. Jill recommends reapplying every 4 hours or so as the powders or sprays wear off. We recommend Skindinavia’s The Makeup Finishing Spray or Cinema Secrets Loose Setting Powder.
Don’t Forget Sanitation
Make sure to wash your hands and masks regularly and always wear a clean mask. It’s also important to make sure your makeup is safe and sanitary as well. Use disposables when possible and make sure to sanitize your makeup with ATTN! Beauty’s Makeup Sanitizer Mist.

COVID-19 - WHEN WILL WE REOPEN?
Make Up First ® School must ensure that we provide a safe environment during this pandemic. Accordingly, we have cancelled our Spring Session 2020. We hope to reopen for our Summer Session, mid June 2020.
In the meantime, let us know: Would you be interested in “attending” our program online? We look forward to your response, but in the meantime, stay safe-stay home and sanitize!
Like many other schools and businesses, Make Up First has temporarily suspended normal operations this week as the country navigates the recent coronavirus outbreak. We are all anxious and excited to get back to work doing what we love, but the health and safety of our students and staff are of the utmost importance to us. As such, we have revised our 2020 course dates, which are now current on our website, as well as in the list below. We are monitoring the situation closely, but hopefully we not need to revise these dates any further.
If changes are needed, they will be reflected on our website and social media as soon as possible. If you are already registered for any of the courses or workshops that were rescheduled, we will reach out to you directly. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this hectic time!
If you have any questions, please feel free to email info@makeupfirst.com!

What is Gleam?
Gleam Face & Body Radiance is a revolutionary all in one Makeup, Moisturizer, and Glow you can use for face and body.
What It Does:
Face & Body Highlight/Shimmer – our formula is perfect as a body glow, body shimmer, body bronzer and body highlighter all in one!
Body & Leg Makeup – Body Radiance lightweight makeup blurs imperfections on the entire body, also known as “liquid pantyhose”, not heavy or full coverage makeup.
Transfer Resistant – long-lasting formula stays put and won’t stain skin or clothing. Simply wash off with soap & water.
Flattering on all Skin Tones – every shade is a different look and any skin tone can use any shade. See our shade videos and chart below.
6 Shades – Darker shades are perfect for contour, bronzing, and amping up a tan on lighter skin. Lighter shades are perfect for glow and POP!
How To Use It:
Safe for the Face – use as an illuminating primer, create a buildable highlight or sunkissed tint
Mix it Up – blend Gleam Body Radiance with your favorite liquid foundation, BB Cream or other skincare product for an all-over glow! When using on the body, do not mix with lotions or oils or transfer may occur.
Lock it Down – top off your glow with our Gleam Body Sealing Spray to seal in your look even longer!
