Switch to Fall Skincare

The warm glow of summer is fading fast. Skirts and sandals have made their way back into the closet in favor of jackets and boots—and in much the same way your wardrobe needs a change-up, so does your skincare routine. As the seasons trend towards colder weather, the elements can be ruthless on your skin and lips, but with the right products, you can keep your skin looking flawless. We’ve got you covered with our step-by-step regimen—from removal and repair to full skin revival.

REMOVE

Give your face the ultimate spa treatment with the Make Up Eraser. With warm water, fully soak the cloth before using, then use circular motions to loosen and remove makeup. Afterwards, cleanse your face with Bioderma’s refreshing micellar water formula that cuts through dirt, oil, and even waterproof makeup. The soothing cucumber extract leaves even dry, irritated, and sensitive skin feeling soft and refreshed.

REPAIR

After cleansing your face, rejuvenate your skin with Mustaev’s Vitamin Sadness Mask. This revitalizing mask is infused with vitamins that hydrate, nourish, and reduce the signs of fatigue and stress while bringing back radiance to the skin. Then, give your lips some TLC with ToGoSpa’s Rose Gold Lips mask. This micro-infused collagen gel mask—with Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamins C & E, Resveratrol, Rose Extract, and Gold Powder—create a supercharged anti-aging lip restoration mask to moisturize, re-hydrate and soothe dry lips, as well as smooth out lines around the mouth.

REVIVE

Fight back against Fall with a double dose of Embryolisse! Cicalisse is a revitalizing cream that accelerates skin restoration while nourishing and moisturizing with a combination of sugars, Vitamin E, soft butters, and aloe vera extract. Apply morning or night to achieve brighter, healthier skin. Fight back against puffy under eyes and dark circles with the amazing Radiant Eyes treatment stick that brightens and smooths eye contours in minutes. Use on both upper and lower eyelids—and for a stronger cooling effect, store in the refrigerator!

Why Wait? Scholarships and Grants Can Help start Your Career now!
BP3I2271.jpg

You want to become a makeup artist, but financially you don’t know how to make it happen. Don’t let the fear of financial burdens hold you back—use the tools and resources available to turn your dreams into a reality.

There are hundreds of scholarships and grants available for prospective students in Chicago and throughout the Midwest. Some you can apply for in less than 15 minutes! There are also benefits for US veterans, employer education stipends, and much more! With a little digging, you may find that you’re eligible for multiple options to help pay for education.

Below we’ve compiled a list of some of the scholarships and grants used by previous students of Make Up First to help you jumpstart the process!

Scholarships and Grants

Note: Some scholarships require Cosmetology and or Aesthetics licenses in order to be an eligible applicant. Be sure to research requirements carefully prior to submitting an application.

• The Professional Beauty Association provides scholarship information for organizations such as Minerva, Hans Neumaier, Sally Beauty Supply, and America’s Beauty Show!

• The Presidents Scholarship from America’s Beauty Show and Cosmetologists Chicago can help you take your career to the next level. Regular members of Cosmetologists Chicago® (CC), Cosmetologos Latinos® (CL), American Assiociation for Esthetics® (AAE), and International Nail Technicians Association® (INTA) can apply for up to $2,500 a year ($7,500 lifetime maximum) for Advanced Classes and Seminars.

American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) partners with industry sponsors to offer scholarships and grants to deserving cosmetology students. Beauty Changes Lives (BCL) currently offers seven scholarships in all categories representing the beauty and wellness industry. They also offer two advanced education scholarships, one in cosmetology and one in makeup. Since 2013, BCL has given away more than $1,000,000 in scholarships to students attending cosmetology, esthetics, nail, massage, makeup and advanced courses.

Beauty Schools Directory is donating a $2500 Scholarship to help pay for education at the beauty school of your dreams! Deadline is October 31st!

Blessons Scholarships for Women are funded by donations and are unique and may often function as the only source of support for women where no other granting and scholarship organizations may exist or are accessible in it’s nature where grade point average is NOT a deciding factor. They give women the resources to realize their educational goals to use the funds in whatever way that helps them most such as: books, tuition, on-campus health insurance, cafeteria, computer labs and transportation.

The Chade Foundation Scholarships Program is offering financial aid to incoming and current college or graduate school students. In order to show our gratitude and support to the Chicagoland community, the company established Chade Foundation in 2007. We invite all eligible students to apply for our 10th Annual Scholarship Awards.

INTRODUCING ‘DARKROOM’ BY STILAZZI + JORDAN LIBERTY

Stilazzi, in collaboration with Jordan Liberty, introduces to you his “holy grail” eyeshadow palette, aptly titled DARKROOM. Jordan’s international career as a makeup artist and beauty photographer has set his work apart from the crowd, and DARKROOM is a celebration of the colors and textures that have captured his imagination across the globe on his world tour in 2018 and 2019. A homage to his early roots in the photographer’s darkroom, Jordan explores the importance of light manipulation to both makeup artistry and photography with 18 carefully crafted eyeshadows.

SHOP NOW

“Nine lean cool and nine lean warm shades with a mix of matte, soft metallic, intense metallic, and sheer shift shades (which I hope you’ll love as much as I do). At first glance the palette looks incredibly colorful - and while there are some fantastic brights inside, DARKROOM is firmly grounded in neutrals and I probably spent most of my time in development on some of my favorite transition shades ever…there are 4 shades that can be used as transitions on various skin tones or as highlights or shadows on others.”

- Jordan Liberty
